THEODORE HAROLD HART December 17, 1914 - December 26, 2001 Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 26, 2001, Theodore (Ted) Hart passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87 years. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 52 years, Evelyne (nee Bohemier) his sisters, Claire Green of Lethbridge and Eileen Gardner of Winnipeg; his sisters-in-law, Rita, Claire and Fabiola, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Donald and by his sisters, Theresa and Mary. Ted was born in North Battleford, SK and moved to Winnipeg (Norwood) at an early age. He joined the Canadian Army and served overseas during the Second World War. After the war Ted attended St. Pauls College and later studied law at the University of Manitoba. He taught school before joining the Winnipeg Free Press as night editor. Many young employees in the newsroom will remember Ted for his help and guidance. Ted was a warm hearted person who loved children and they, in return, took to him. His favourite hobby was thoroughbred horse racing and he was a familiar face at the racetrack for many years. The family wishes to thank Fabiola Bohemier (sister-in-law) for her tireless efforts towards Ted and his wife Evelyne. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. on Monday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m. The service will terminate at the church. Interment of Teds cremated remains will take place in Assumption Cemetery in the spring of 2002. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • He wrote an article back in 1970 about David Bleue son of my great grandmothers sisters son. David or his mother Maggie (Margaret) and because of an accident to the two ladies mother they had been adopted out. So the article that Ted wrote was very helpful and much enjoy of the story of the past. He mentions at the end about his wife and dancing days. How those days had come close to an end of the dancing days. His words touched me and I looked him up. I hope that he and his wife have found those dancing steps once again in heaven. And although I was only 2 when he wrote about David, I thank him for his works back then that led me to info on my family. Should his family see this I wish them well.
