Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT (BERT) ORTON MAKARA With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Albert (Bert) Makara, on Wednesday, December 26th, 2001 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Bert is survived by his loving wife Geraldine; children, Sonny (Darlene), Barb (Len), John (Wilma), Jan (Garth), Evelyn (Dan), Eleanor (Steve), Tim (Joann), Tony (Sandra) 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren ; sisters, Arlene and Annie. Bert was predeceased by his son Carl. He was born on March 1st, 1924 in Washow Bay, MB, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces, and served overseas for four years. Bert worked most of his life on water, skippering various vessels, and was a mechanic on others. His favorite pastime was hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Each one of us in our own special way, remember him with love today. God looked around His garden, and found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, and lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, and the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered come with Me. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, For a part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, December 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Berts memory can be made to a charity of ones choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
