LEE SAIDMAN With sorrow and love we said our final good-bye to Lee Saidman on December 19, 2001. Lee was husband to Shelley; father to Daniel and Gillian (Ivan Presser) and Butchie to his uncle Kippy, family and long-time friends, to everyone else he was Sam the Cameraman. Lee loved the camera business, the customers, the contacts and photography itself. He delighted in his CBC radio shows when he was called in as their camera maven. He had a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba and he was always involved with the art scene. Most recently Lee was active on the board of the West End Cultural Centre. Lee also enjoyed the Winnipeg Sketch club and the Jewish Historical Society and he was often to be found at the Rady Centre. Lees funeral was held on his 67th birthday. Pallbearers were Marshall Garland, David Keynes, Merrill Shulman, Jeremy Simcoe, Allan Block and Norman Silverberg. Honorary pallbearers were Morley Lertzman, James Stoyka, Adrian Poirier, and Floyd Moglove. Shiva was observed at the family home. Lee left us with many beautiful memories and many friends to keep his stories and spirit alive. The family has established The Lee Saidman Memorial Fund for Manitoba Arts at the Jewish Foundation to assist young artists and musicians. Tribute donations can be made at Suite C400-123 Doncaster St., Winnipeg, MB, R3N 2B2 or (204)477-7525.
