HELEN WELLIS It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our sister and aunt, Helen Wellis. Born in Winnipeg, Helen was the second eldest of five children born to Anna and Nicholas Willis. After graduating from high school, she went on to Normal School obtaining her teaching certificate. She taught for a few years in urban and rural Manitoba. From there, Helen embarked on a career in the federal civil service where she worked until retirement. Helen pursued an active life enjoying travel, theatre, ballet, symphony and travelogue. She became involved in seniors groups and attended university lectures in retirement. Her love of family extended to all her nieces and nephews with whom she played an active role. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her sister Mary Stefanko, niece Helen Courchesne and nephew Ted of North Bay, ON; brother Tony Wallis, niece Pat and nephew George (Ivy) sister Rose Ruppenthal, niece Wendy Sersun (Michael) and nephew Charles; sister Jean Ibbott, nephew Claude (Louella) and niece Judy Quinton (Gary) as well as many great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge all the love and support of her friends over the years. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with visitation one hour prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined.
