Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS HENRY On Christmas morning, Doris Henry passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Doris was born August 23, 1911 in Lauder, MB. She spent her early years on the family farm in Napinka, MB. Doris married George Henry in 1938 and together they adopted and loved four children. George and Doris lived between Winnipeg and Brandon all of their married life. When George passed away in 1966, Doris rose to the challenge of raising her children and carving out an independent and productive life by herself. First and foremost, Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. She will be remembered for her special Christmas packages for family and friends chock full of a variety of baked goodies. Doris continued to drive her own car, get her hair done weekly and manage her daily affairs with dignity until the end. She was, with bag in hand, waiting at her apartment door to be picked up to travel to Calgary, to spend Christmas with her family when she fell ill. We are grateful for her full life and for the lessons of independence, dignity, and perseverance she modelled to us every day. Doris is forever loved and remembered by her sister Leta White of Winnipeg, sons, Vern Henry (Sharon) of Sanford; and grandchildren, Kirstin (Darren) of Phoenix and Kris (Angie) of Winnipeg; great-grandchild Tyler; Jim Henry of Kelowna; and grandchildren, Meaghan, Lauren, and Richard; daughter Susan Gudmundson (Bruce) of Calgary; and grandchildren, Stefan and Carla; son-in-law Alan Lightfoot of Portage la Prairie; and grandchildren, Alana (Sean), and David. Doris was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Donna Lightfoot; daughter-in-law Gail Henry (Robinson), her three brothers, Donald, Leslie, and Gordon Ramsey; and nephew Donald White. A memorial service will be held at Central United Church on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Joan Jarvis officiating. Following the reception, a graveside service will take place at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 727B-10th St., Brandon, MB, R7A 4G7 or to Central United Church, 325-8th St., Brandon, MB, R7A 3X5. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, 727-0694. "We love you Grandma Doris"
