LAURENT HENRI JOSEPH ARNAL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laurent Arnal after a heart attack with complications on December 27, 2001 at the St Boniface Hospital, Medical Intensive Care Unit, at aged 83. Laurent is survived by his wife, Yvette; his sister Blanche Mollot; his sons, Allan (Lise), grandchildren Chantale and Jason (Nadine) and Ben; his daughter Anita-Louise Doig (Tony), grandchildren Jesse and Sarah. Family and friends will affectionately remember him as "Crebit", a nickname he carried most of his life. His parents, Benjamin and Eugenie and his five brothers, Armand, Aime, Ernest, Louis, and Albert predeceased him. He was born on August 10, 1918 in Fannystelle MB, attended school in Fannystelle, and served in the Army from 1941 to 1944. He married Yvette Rivard in 1944 and started farming just south of Fannystelle in 1945 until 1974. Laurent loved the land and took great pride in good looking and clean fields. For a number of years, he served his community as School Trustee and as Trustee for the Municipality of Grey. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1966. When age did not allow him to help others on the fields, he embraced his garden in the back yard in Winnipeg and proudly provided many with the fruits of his labour. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. from Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, 289 Dussault Ave. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. The family would like to thank the City of Winnipeg FIRE/EMT staff that responded to the house on December 25, the Medical and Nursing Staff of the St Boniface Hospital Emergency and Medical Intensive Care Unit, and the Hospital Chaplains for their kindness and support.
