Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE CHARLES BROOKS Peacefully on December 30, 2001 at Deer Lodge Centre, in his 85th year. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen Ann (nee Keenahan), whom he married February 11, 1945 at St. Johns Anglican Church in Fort Frances, Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his son Daniel of Vancouver; his son Don and his wife Susan of Toronto; his daughter Colleen King and her husband Jim of Vernon, B.C.; his son Kevin of Winnipeg; his sister Molly Ashmore of Lethbridge; his sister Doreen Fuller and her husband George of Regina; his sister-in-law Norah Walsh of Thunder Bay; his sister-in-law Jane Wirtz and her husband Gunter of Marathon, Ontario and his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends Fran and Nancy and numerous other friends. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by his father, Charles, in 1970; and his mother Ethel, in 1979. Four brothers-in-law, Alexander Stalker, George Walsh, Frank Keenahan and George Ashmore, also predeceased him. Mr. Brooks was born in Southampton, England and moved to Canada in 1921 with his parents and older sister, Molly, first settling in Minnedosa, Manitoba and then Indian Head, Saskatchewan. During the Second World War, George Brooks served in England with the Regina Rifles. On his return to Canada, he continued his career as a butcher, which he did until 1982, when he retired as a meat department manager with Dominion Stores in Winnipeg. He was also a member of Fort Rouge Legion, Branch No. 97. Friends may call for visitation between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Funeral services will be held at Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 300 Hugo Street North, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, with the Rev. Canon A. M. L. Klassen officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. George Brooks will be fondly remembered for his loving and giving ways, intelligence, integrity, decency and sense of humour.
