IVA ROSA ROGERS (nee CAMPBELL) Iva Rosa Rogers, widow of Homer Rogers, died peacefully on December 30, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mother was born on March 9, 1912 in Portage la Prairie, MB. She grew up in the warm family of Herbert and Rosa Campbell on their Elm Creek Farm. Mother attended Brandon Normal School and taught at the one room Columbine School. She married Homer in 1934. She leaves to cherish her memory six children and their spouses; Eloise and Gordon Johnston (Winnipeg), Larry and Doreen Rogers (Clandeboye), Jim and Joanne Rogers (Victoria, B.C.), Ron and Joyce Rogers (Stratford, ON), Linda and Richard Smith (Rothesay, N.B.), and Wendy and Tracey McKeague (Calgary, AB). She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and families including 12 great-grandchildren. Mother will be lovingly remembered by her sister Olive Kennedy and sister-in-law Pearl Rogers and many nieces and nephews. Her sisters Marion Douglas and Reta Hopkins predeceased her. As a long-time St. Vital resident Mother loved to tend her garden and flowers. Her most recent residence was Mike Sumka Place where she enjoyed the social activities and friendship she found there. She appreciated the fellowship of Regent Park United Church and of the Red River Seniors when she was able. Mother traveled throughout Canada and ventured to Europe to spend time with ever-growing family. She enjoyed scrabble, crossword puzzles, carpet bowling and bingo, but time spent with her family was her greatest pleasure. Mother, we will always remember your gentle, kind and patient nature. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2002 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, 500 - 155 Donald St., Wpg, MB, R3C 1L8 would be appreciated.
