ENID RUTH ADELUNG (nee SHORT) Enid died peacefully at the age of 91 years at the Pinawa Hospital on Friday, December 28, 2001. She leaves to mourn a loving family of her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Dennis Cann of Pinawa and grandchildren, Stephen of Kanata, ON, and Kendra of Winnipeg. She is also survived by sisters, Priscilla Grassick of Pilot Mound, MB and Winona Clarke of Calgary, AB; brother-in-law Bruce Merryweather of Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law Lillian Short of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1950, three sisters and one brother. Enid was born in Oak River, MB on May 2, 1910. She received her nursing diploma from the Winnipeg General Hospital and worked in Winnipeg and the United States. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Edmonton where she worked at the Cerebral Palsy Clinic and Glenrose School Hospital. In later years, she lived in Winnipeg and for the past year, she made her home at the Golden Links Lodge. Enids family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Golden Links Lodge and the Pinawa Hospital for the gentle care and kindness shown to both Enid and her family. A memorial service will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour on Saturday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rob Murray officiating. In lieu of flowers, if desired, a remembrance may be made in her memory to the Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 4A5 or the Pinawa Hospital, Box 220, Pinawa, MB, ROE 1LO or a charity of ones choice.
