VIOLA W. (VI) McCOWAN (nee TATE) Peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2001 at the Portage District General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, Viola (Vi) McCowan, widow of the late John David McCowan, passed away at the age of 87 years. Vi was predeceased by her loving husband John McCowan in 1994 and brother Bill Tate in 1989. Left to treasure her memory with smiles and tears are daughter Carole and son-in-law Don (Sonny) Ketchuk of Westbank, BC; sister Nell Owens of Portage; sisters-in-law, Marg Tate and Kay McCowan both of Portage and Isabella McInnes of Rainy River, ON; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, January 4, 2002 at Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. S., Portage la Prairie, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Ross Taylor officiating. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Vis memory to Sunset Palliative Care, Hospital Palliative Room, Inc., Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A7, or to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8, or to Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. S., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1W7.
