THERESA WEINHANDL (nee FLEISCHHACKER) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Theresa Weinhandl on Sunday, December 30, 2001, at the age of 74, with her family at her side. Resi, Mom and Oma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years Mike; daughter Ann (Don) Petsche; grandchildren, Stephen and Stephanie; sister Margaret and brother John (Elisabeth) here in Winnipeg, and sisters Katharina, Elisabeth, Kristine and Anna in Austria; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Erna and George of Hampton, MN and Maria (Josef), Leo (Kathl) and Paul (Suzie) of Austria. Theresa or Resi as many knew her came to Canada from Austria in 1954 with her husband Mike and daughter Ann to start a new life filled with hopes and dreams, and many of these were fulfilled. Theresa worked for Old Dutch Foods for 28 years before she retired and made many friends that she still has today. Her greatest happiness in life, aside from family and friends, were her garden and always helping and entertaining others with her baking and cooking. There were no strangers in her home and everyone was family. Our family wishes to express our sincerest thanks to everyone at the Victoria General Hospital and in the ICU for everything they did and for their great compassion during her brief stay. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2002 at St. Emiles Church, 556 St. Annes Rd., with viewing from 10:30 a.m. until the service. Interment will immediately follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice.
