Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERB ENNS Suddenly, and unexpectedly, during the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 1, 2002, with his loving wife at his side, Herb Enns passed away. Herb is survived by his wife of 47 years, Irene; and his two sons, Don and his wife Anita, and Randy and his wife Doreen. Herb is also survived by his four grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey, Steven, and Lisa; his mother Olga; his two brothers; and two sisters. Herb was predeceased by his father Gerald; and his brothers, Gerald, and Albert. Herb was born in Winnipeg on May 2, 1934. Two years after his marriage to Irene in 1954, Herb joined the Winnipeg Fire Department and proudly served the citizens of the City of Winnipeg for more than 36 years, retiring as a District Chief. Herb was a very proud member of the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg, IAFF Local 867. After retiring in 1993, Herb and Irene moved to Abbotsford, BC, to enjoy their retirement. Herbs retirement included involvement in many activities in the Abbotsford area, especially major volunteer service with the Fraser Valley Cancer Society, where Irene just recently retired after three years as the Regional President. A memorial service will be held for Herb on Friday, January 4, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Douglas Mennonite Church located at 1517 Rothesay St., in Winnipeg. Immediately after the service, a celebration of Herbs life will be held in the church gymnasium. Winnipeg Fire Department Fire Chaplain, Mark Young, will be officiating the service. Honorary pallbearers are Vic Reimer, Robert Caryk, Norm Nakka, Paul Anderson, Don Krampetz, and Doug Krampetz. The Winnipeg Fire Department Honour Guard will also be in attendance. A second memorial service will be held in Abbotsford at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family knows that Herb would very much appreciate contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Fire Fighters Burn Fund. HENDERSONS FUNERAL HOME 604-854-5534
