Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA MAY NANACOWOP August 5, 1937 - December 31, 2001 Unexpectedly, on December 31, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre, Hilda succumbed to the battle of diabetes at the age of 65 years. Hilda was born and raised in Berens River, Manitoba, where she raised two sons. Hilda truly loved living in Berens River. She tried living in Selkirk, Manitoba, but decided that she would rather be where her heart belonged and moved back home to Berens River. Hilda enjoyed and loved her sons and shared many good times and shed many tears together. Hilda had a special relationship with her sons. Hilda also enjoyed the many friends and relatives who would drop by to visit and shared many jokes and laughs. Hilda had a quick smile for anyone. Her laughter will be missed greatly. Hilda truly loved her family, all of her family, and all of her family loved her just as much. Hilda always put her family ahead of herself. Hilda will be truly missed by her beloved family. Hilda was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Margaret Nanacowop; brother Alex Nanacowop; niece Kimberly McKay; nephew Bernard Bittern; great-niece Myrna Traverse. Leaving behind her beautiful memory her two sons, Herman and George (Caroline) Nanacowop of Berens River; granddaughter Jennifer Boyd of Winnipeg. Also two sisters, Barbara Gudmundson of Selkirk and Ruby McKay of Winnipeg, whom were very dear to her heart. Many special nieces and nephews, close friends and relatives. Hildas sons would like to thank the staff at the GA4 Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion is greatly appreciated. Also the homecare that Hilda received in Berens River, the Nursing Station staff and Skyward Aviation. There will be prayers said at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, Winnipeg on Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Wake services will be held at Hildas residence in Berens River on Friday January 4, Saturday January 5 and Sunday January 6. Funeral service to be held on Monday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Berens River, Manitoba with Rev. Roy Bouchie officating. Burial to follow at Berens River Cemetery.
