Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD CHARLES OGRODNIK November 7, 1920 - January 1, 2002 It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Peacefully on January 1, 2002 Dad fell into an eternal sleep. Dad was born in Poland and came to Canada as a young boy with his family. He proudly served his country in the Second World War. We fondly remember his stories of the war - he only mentioned the good times. Right up to the day of his passing he was astonished that he had actually survived the war. After the war he was employed with Sterling Stall & Sons/Sterling Stall for over 50 years. Being a very hard worker throughout his life he has set a pattern for generations to follow. Dad wrapped his unconditional love around his family and all that he met. In his retirement years his home and yard work brought him much pleasure. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Mary Ogrodnik; sister Leona; and brother Bert. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Anne (My Sweetie) of 53 years; and children, daughter Nancy (Mark) Oxenham, grand-children, Matthew and Jillian of England; son Garry (Gail) Ogrodnik, grandchildren, Samantha and Dan, and great-grandchild Elliott of Vancouver Island, BC. Ed is survived by his youngest sister Jean Reid. He will be missed by his aunts, Helen Sorko and Bertha Moscovitch; as well as many nieces, nephews and very special brothers and sisters-in-law. A special thank you to the Emergency Response Teams and to Dr. Nesbitt for his kindness and compassion. Dad had a twinkle in his eye and a great love for all. In the words of his granddaughter Jillian "God needed a Special Angel so he took our Grandpa to do the job" WE WILL MISS YOU. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, 6297 Henderson Hwy., Gonor, MB, with Fr. Harry Oliynek officiating. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Manitoba Cancer Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home Selkirk in care of arrangements.
