MARIJA RENDULIC March 31, 1926 - January 2, 2002 With deep sorrow and love we said our final good bye to our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marija Rendulic on January 2, 2002. Mom passed away peacefully after a long and hard illness in the Selkirk and District General Hospital. She was born in Glina, Croatia on March 31, 1926 to Vale and Kate Begovic. There in her beloved homeland she married Ivan in 1948. They were blessed with their son Franjo the following year and their daughter Milka eight years later. In 1964, Mom along with her two children immigrated to Canada to re-unite with her husband and start a new life in Winnipeg. In 1968 they were blessed with another daughter, Ankica. Mom was a devoted wife and mother, She worked hard to raise her family. She taught her children to be proud of who and what they are and always respect and do good to others. She was a loving and generous person who opened her heart and home to everyone. Mom worked as a seamstress for many years until she was stricken with the debilitating disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis. Even with these limitations, Mom was still able to do her favourite pastime, crochet. She spent many, many nights crocheting different and intricate patterns for her children and friends. Marija will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ivan, of 52 years; her son Franjo (Roza) grandchildren, Mike, Millie, Kristina and Ivan; daughter Milka (Pave) grandchildren, Mike and fiancee Anita, Tomislav, Ivan, Paul and Kathy; daughter Ankica (Ive) grandchildren, Ann-Marie, Daniel and Jasmina. She also leaves to cherish her memory her only sister Bare Flanjak; nephew Ivan (Triena) and family; nephew Mike; niece Kate (Stipe) and family who was like a daughter to her. Mom also leaves behind many friends and relatives in Croatia, Canada and U.S.A. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay You faced your task in courage Your spirit did not bend But still you kept on fighting Until the very end So He put His arms around you And whispered Come to Me So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful from pain We could not wish you back To suffer again. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nikola Tavelic Church, 2688 Main St. with Velecasni Franjo Visatiski officiating. Mom will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. We, the family of Marija, would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all the professionals who throughout the years cared for Mom. Thank you Lorraine DeCombe and our nurse Sandra who were always there for us. Special thank you goes to Dr. Fuchs and staff of Selkirk and District Hospital, who with their compassion and exceptional care made Moms last days comfortable. If friends and family desire, donations may be made to the Selkirk and District Palliative Care Unit or the Arthritis Society.
