Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE A. GARRETT Peacefully, in the early morning of January 4, 2002 Les passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn his loss wife Dorothy; daughter Diane Carter of Winnipeg and son David (Gail) of Calgary as well as grandchildren, Jeremy Carter of Edmonton and Keith and Karyn Garrett of Calgary. He is also survived by brother Russell (Madeline) and nieces, Doreen and Audrey and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Winnifred Garrett, and son-in-law George Carter. Les was born in Winnipeg July 4, 1924. He attended Laura Secord Elementary School and Gordon Bell High School. Les married Dorothy Sheane on June 14, 1946 and resided in Winnipeg most of his life. He worked as parts manager at American Motors and went on to be a purchasing agent at Canadian Tool and Die where he retired due to ill health in April, 1987. Throughout his life Les enjoyed many summers at Victoria Beach. He loved woodworking and making model airplanes. Les volunteered at the Western Canada Aviation Museum whenever his health allowed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Silver Heights United Church, Ness and Mt. Royal, with Reverend Nancy Sanders officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB.
