NICHOLAS (NICK) LUBINSKI Peacefully, at his home, with his loving wife Anne at his side, Nicholas Lubinski passed away on January 5, 2002, after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Lena Lubinski and his sister Jean Taylor. Nick will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Anne; his sisters, Kay Atamachuk, Mary Johnson, Estelle Forde, Nellie Matiasek and Pauline Curtis; his brothers, Mike and Alec Lubinski; and by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Nick was born on December 19, 1913, on the farm in Sylvan, MB. He moved to Winnipeg in his teens and worked at the Cardite Plant in Transcona and later as a trucker for McDonalds Aircraft. He married Anne on June 30, 1939. Nick drove a cab for Northern Taxi and purchased his own taxi in 1947 and later bought two more. He was an independent owner at Veterans Nash and Duffys taxi prior to that. He drove a cab until 1991, when he retired due to ill health. He loved working with the public and was friendly to everyone. He was a very kind, loving person and he had a long and happy life. Pallbearers will be Larry, Dennis and Mark Kudelski, David and Jason Bouchard and Ken Lubinski. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. also at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bruce Day officiating. Anyone wishing to donate flowers may make donations to the Kidney Foundation, 200 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8; Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or to a charity of their choice.
