Joyce was born to Constance and Roy Rutledge on August 12, 1933 in Shortdale, MB, growing up in Dauphin where she met and married Ben Kolson on August 31, 1951. After trying their hand of living up north in The Pas they settled in Transcona and spent their life raising and loving their children. Her hobbies were making beautiful needlepoint pictures, a large variety of craft work, gardening and growing flowers, and setting up her yard as a peaceful haven for birds and people. Joyce loved people and life and kept active sharing her hobbies with her friends, going swimming twice a week, dining out at restaurants, and joining groups such as Park Manor and Transcona Seniors Group where she enjoyed many activities, outings, and Bible studies and made some very meaningful and dear friendships. Joyce will be remembered as a very loving and generous person. May she rest in Peace. The family would like to thank anybody and everyone who showed kindness to their mother since the passing of her husband as this was a very difficult time and recently in her hours of need. According to Joyces wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, January 10. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Both will be officiated by Chaplain John Diamond.
