EDWARD SCHWAB Peacefully, on January 5, 2002, at Donwood Personal Care Home, Edward Schwab passed away at the age of 87, with his family at his side. Ed was predeceased by his wife Martha in May, 1999; brothers, Reinhold and Henry; and his sister Ruth Schnell. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Harold; daughter Donna (Don) Spitzer; his two granddaughters, Darcy (Dave) Thom and Dara (Chris) Macht; and great-grandchildren, Jade Thom, Brittney and Colton Macht. Ed is also survived by his brother Gordon (Ida) of St. Anne, MB and eight sisters, Emily of Selkirk, MB, Lena of White Rock, BC, Martha of Middlechurch Home, Dinah of Carman, MB, Esther (George) of Vernon, BC, Dorothy (Otto) of Tolstoi, MB, Alice (Howard) of St. Malo, MB, and Eleanor (Art) of Stuartburn, MB; sister-in-law Ruth Young of Winnipeg; as well as numerous other family members. Ed was a good provider, farming for a time, and then moving with his family to Winnipeg, where he was employed by Winnipeg Supply and Fuel Co. (Concrete Division). They enjoyed many years camping and upon retiring he and our mother spent 13 winters in Mesa, AZ, which he always looked forward to. Parkinson Disease took a toll on him. For the last three and a half years, his home was at Donwood Personal Care Home. He was nicknamed "Eddie" and "Steady Eddie". We sincerely appreciate the caring care on 2N that Ed was given by the staff of Donwood Personal Care Home. Thank you to all! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5, in his memory. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service time.
