Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZA JEAN FALCONER (nee SOMERS) It is with deep sorrow the family announces that Eliza Falconer, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday January 7, 2002 at the Pine Falls Health Centre at the age of 52 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. Eliza was born in Newcastle, NB, on April 24, 1949. She received her education at North and South Esk Regional School and later at the New Brunswick Bible Institute. She married Jim Falconer on June 6, 1970 in Newcastle, NB and they made their home there for 13 years. In 1984, Jim, Eliza and their children moved to Red Lake, ON. This was followed by a move to Bisset, MB in 1996 and then to Pine Falls, MB the summer of 2001. Each place they resided, Eliza made many friends and touched countless lives. Well known for her generosity and hospitality, their door was always open and all felt welcome. Family and friends were of utmost importance to Eliza and she enjoyed spending time keeping in touch with those she loved through phone calls, gifts, letters and visits. She enjoyed crafts, knit beautiful sweaters and made Christmas ornaments. As anyone who ever visited her home during Christmas knew, Eliza loved Christmas. Her home was adorned with an abundance of her treasured decorations and her festive spirit was contagious. She also enjoyed being involved in various church groups and activities. Through Elizas months of treatments and suffering, her faith never wavered. Her humour, warmth, compassion and strong will continued to shine and inspire. She will be sadly missed. Eliza was predeceased by her father Carl Somers in 1995 and her father-in-law William Falconer in 1979 both of Miramichi, NB. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Jim; her daughter Lisa of Edmonton, AB; her sons Sheldon (Angela) of MacGregor, MB and Andrew of Pine Falls; her three grandchildren - who were the light of her life, Jonathan, Jeremy and Patrick. She is also survived by her mother Lydia Somers, her sister Janice (Jim) Bond, and her brothers, Carmen (Linda) and Terry (Cathy). There will be visitation on Wednesday January 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour. The funeral service will be held on Thursday January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Chapel in Lac du Bonnet, MB with Rev. Jake Doell officiating. Interment and a family service will be held at a later date in New Brunswick. The family greatly appreciates all the care Eliza received from the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Pine Falls Health Centre during her stay there. Also a special thanks to all the home care workers for their special care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Elizas memory, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
