JACK REYNOLDS December 11, 1913 - January 9, 2002 It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather, Jack Reynolds, at Golden West Centennial Lodge on Wednesday, January 9, 2002. Jack was born in Simpson, SK, on December 11, 1913, to John and Mary (Elliott) Reynolds. Jack and his six brothers and sisters were raised in Watrous, SK, where he was very proud to receive his grade 12 diploma. Although he never had the opportunity, Jack always dreamed of becoming an engineer and, as it turns out, he could fix or build just about anything. As a young man, Jack moved to Winnipeg where he met his wife, Martha. They were married on January 18, 1947, and shortly thereafter, began their family. Jack and Martha raised their family in Winnipeg but spent several years in Montreal during the 1950s. Jacks career centered around Air Canada and after 30 years of proud service, he retired in 1973. Throughout his career, he worked in various departments but spent the last several years as an aircraft technician. For a number of years, Jack volunteered at the Airways Community Club and enjoyed 10-pin bowling. Jack loved a good debate on anything from politics to sports to world geography and would often engage his many dear neighbours and friends in lively conversation. He enjoyed his curling but anyone who knew Jack would know that his gardens were his pride and joy. During his retirement, Jack was an active member in many capacities for the St. James Horticultural Society for over 20 years and prided himself on his beautiful, award winning gardens. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his children, Margaret, Garry (Carlie) of Calgary, and Susan; by his grandchildren, Christine (Jim) and Ward; by his sister Kate (Calvin) and brothers, Bill (Anne) and Jim (Kay) by his sisters-in-law, Vie and Janie; and by his many close friends. Jack was predeceased by Martha, his loving wife of 55 years; by his parents; by his sister Tilly; and his brothers, Franklin, Harry, and Ted. Jack - you will be missed and remembered always by your family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, January 11 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations in Jacks memory may be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0S8. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
