Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MILLICENT SMITH L.P.N. Peacefully, on January 11, 2002 our dear mother and grandmother passed away two months short of her 91st birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 1972. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her son Terry (Darlene) her grandsons, Brad (Marieke) and Chris; as well as brother-in-law Gerald Holdgreve of Ft. Wayne, IN; family in Ontario and dear friends. Jean spent her early years in London, ON, later, following marriage to Ernie, came west to Moose Jaw, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. She graduated as an LPN in 1962 and nursed at the Health Sciences Centre and Childrens Hospital until retirement. She was a very independent but kind, caring and compassionate person who loved her family dearly. An avid reader, patron of the arts and active in the community, receiving her 50 year jewel from the Electa Chapter No. 2 Order of the Eastern Star, Portage la Prairie in 1998. Also active with Henjum No. 2994 Toastmasters Club and until she became a resident of West Park Manor, outings to the Lions Adult Day Club were a weekly event. Abiding with Jeans wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Jean will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens next to her husband Ernie. The family are very grateful to the compassionate staff at West Park Manor who lovingly cared for Jean. Special thanks also to her dear friend Anne McInerney. In keeping with Jeans love of animals, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be offered in Jeans memory to the Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2X 1X3 or to a charity of your choice.
