OLGA WEISS 1914-2002 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother and grand-mother, aged 87, with her family by her side, at Riverview Health Centre on Friday, January 11, 2002. Mom was born in Winnipeg, and married her first love, Michael Weiss in 1931. She was employed at Eatons and after her husband passed away in 1958, she was employed at Unemployment Insurance Commission for 21 years, retiring in 1979. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed travelling to many hot spots with her friend Stan. Mom sang in the Smith St. Choir and was a life-long member of Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church. She enjoyed making perogies in the church basement once a week and helping in the kitchen at intermission at Bingos. Up until her illness, she kept a vegetable garden, sharing with her family. Mom was a wonderful cook, making all our favourite Ukrainian dishes. She loved doing crafts - crocheting, knitting and needlework, keeping us well supplied in mitts, slippers, afghans and pictures. A kind and caring person, she was always willing and ready to help her family. She was a woman of substance. She was predeceased by her parents, Julia and Nicholas Krutiak; her husband Michael; her son Ted; her sister Steffie; and her two brothers, Harry and Steve. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Marilyn Cameron (Gordon) her daughter-in-law Doreen Weiss; grandchildren, Kirt, Ryan and Kim Cameron, Gary Weiss (Eileen), Laura Schnarr (Kevin) and Theresa Reddaway (Paul) and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Weiss, Joey, Leigh Anne, Alycia and Kayla Reddaway; as well as her sister Toni Wachnian; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be make to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on 4E and CD4 at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 15, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her two grandsons, Kirt and Ryan Cameron, John Wachnian, Tyler Sault, Grant Thorvaldson and Gordon Cameron. REST IN PEACE, DEAR MOM CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
