JOHN LESLIE HAMPTON It is with sadness that we announce the death of John Leslie Hampton on January 11, 2002, at the age of 71 years. Les was born September 30, 1930 in Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by parents, Mr. Stuart Hampton of Rossland, BC, and Phylis Gertrude Hampton; one and only brother Mr. Russell Hampton of Peterborough, ON, and loving wife Elsa Elizabeth Hampton (Urban) on April 18, 1999 in Winnipeg. Survived by his nieces and nephews, Mr. Jack Hampton of Calgary, AB, Mr. Robert Hampton of Lafayette, CO (USA), Ms. Marguerite Hampton of Edmonton, AB, Mr. Bill Hampton of Peterborough, ON, Ms. Maureen Hampton of Carleton Place, ON. Also survived by Mr. Brian Hampton of Calgary, AB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prehodchenko of Edmonton, AB, Mrs. Sadie Urban of Saskatoon, SK, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Urban, of Bruno, SK; and nieces, Debra Brown of Edmonton, AB, Wendy Urban of Calgary, AB, Brenda Grisack of Vancouver, BC, Donna McMillan of Kelowna, BC, and Darlene Doblanko of Edmonton, AB. Les was in the RCAF for 25 years and worked as a salesman and commissionaire until retirement. Les was also very active in Masonry, Past Master of Black Forest Lodge 901, Past Office of the American-Canadian Grand Lodge of Germany. He was an active member of Ionic Lodge #25 of Winnipeg. Les was also a past member of St. Johns RAC, Past Preceptor of King Edward Preceptory of Winnipeg and was an active member of Khartum Temple Patrol until 1989. He was president of the Winnipeg Hospital Unit in 1967. Both Elsa and Les were active members of the Manitoba Purple Martin Club of Winnipeg. In keeping with Less wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. In honor of Less memory, charitable donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6, or the Shriners Hospital, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3M 0A5.
