JUSTINA LYSAK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Justina Lysak, aged 97, with her family at her side at Seven Oaks Hospital on Monday, January 14, 2002. Justina was born December 22, 1904 in selo Zaletcha, povit Chortkiw, W. Ukraine. She married Daniel Lysak in 1924 and came to Canada in 1930. They settled in Saskatchewan, later moving to Winnipeg in 1971 residing in St. Boniface. Together Justina and Daniel raised nine children. Mom was a devote Catholic and belonged to Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, the UCWLC of the Church and its Seniors Club. Her strong belief in God gave her strength to endure many hardships that she faced in her life. Left to cherish Justinas memory are her daughters, Emily Stefanyshyn (Michael), Pauline Rybuck, Ann Stoute (Peter), Sonya Mattison (Ron) sons, Michael (Anne), Morris (Edna), Orest, John (Diane) daughter-in-law Veronica Lysak; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 1975; son Walter in 1993 and twin babies, Pauline and Joseph in 1934. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 18 also at the Church with Rev. I. Royik officiating. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency Department and Dr. Gorski, nurses and staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their compassion and care.
