HARRY STANLEY RINTOUL Suddenly, at his home in Lake Audy, MB, Harry Stanley Rintoul died on Monday, January 14, 2002. Harry was born at Canmore, AB on December 9, 1956. His family moved to Winnipeg when he was a baby, and he made his home there for most of his life. He discovered the world of theatre early on, and in part made his living as a playwright. Many of his plays were produced both in Canada and the United States, and he had two plays, several short stories and book reviews published. He was active in the writing community, particularly through the Manitoba Association of Playwrights and The Manitoba Writers Guild, as a mentor, facilitator and critic. Nearly four years ago, he made his lifelong dream to live in the country a reality, and bought a country store on the border of Riding Mountain National Park. He threw himself into rural life wholeheartedly, and made many friends in his short tenure there. He is survived by his wife Dolores; their daughter Linnaea; and stepchildren, Siobhan Menge and Tristan Henry; mother Janet Nicholson and her companion Russ Andrew, of Kelwood; sister Rose (Colin) sister Renda (Don) and brother Del (Lisa). He also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, four brothers-in-law, his mother- and father-in-law, and many friends and colleagues in Winnipeg, the Clear Lake region, elsewhere in Canada, and in Denmark. As Harry had many ties in both country and city, two memorial services will be held, 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17 in The Colin Jackson Studio Theatre of Prairie Theatre Exchange, Portage Place and on January 26 at the Crawford Park Hall, west of Onanole. Time and details of the Crawford Park service are pending. Harry will be cremated in a private ceremony prior to the memorial service in Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. A donation in Harrys memory may be made to the company he founded in 1990, Theatre Projects Manitoba, Y-300 393 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 3H6. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
