CAITLIN ELIZABETH JOHNS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Caitlin Elizabeth Johns on January 12, 2002 at the age of 34 years. She is survived by her husband Scott Rossell and son Caelum; by parents Morag and Bill Johns; brothers, Jeffrey and Greg Johns; sisters-in-law, Josie Johns and Jean Rossell, Janelle Brazeau; mother-in-law Lorraine Rossell, brother-in-law Bruce Rossell and many other friends and relatives. Caitlin was born January 27, 1967 in Toronto, ON; shortly after her birth, the family moved to Winnipeg. Caitlin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg. She remained involved in creative endeavours after graduating, working at Rainbow Stage and Manitoba Theatre Centre, on locally filmed movies and in various design-oriented businesses. Caitlin had a true creative gift, with natural artistic ability in painting, design, gardening, craft-making and many other areas. She believed in putting something of herself into everything she did. Caitlin embraced new experiences and was not afraid to follow her heart. The practicalities of life never stopped her from doing anything. She loved travelling and was actively committed to her ideals. She had a strength of character that was belied by her kind and gentle nature. Caitlin and Scott married in 1996; the birth of Caelum followed in 1998. Caitlin greatly loved her son and husband, was close to her family and had deep affection for her many friends. She was a lively, vibrant spirit who stepped into life with passion and humour and who embraced each day with a rare enthusiasm. With joy and laughter, courage and dignity, she made the most of the time she was given on this earth and left a legacy of great and lasting love in her passing. In keeping with Caitlins wishes, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of her life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Canadian Cancer Foundation. The family would like to thank friends, neighbours and health care providers for their kindness and support. Caitlin, your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I knew Caitlin when I was of University age. She and I would often be at the same place at the same time. I remember seeing her at a movie in the 80s - I think it was "Malcom," and then we were both working at the Bay, and we talked about the singer Suzanne Vega. Later we both worked at Rainbow Stage, in 1990. Caitlin was of course lovely, but also you could just knew she was a caring a chirping spirit. I learned of the news when I was at the CBC in Toronto 10 years ago, and was very sad to hear. She knew and made happy many people who were probably just not around to say so at the time she passed on. I hope Scott and Caelum are doing well, and bless you who must have been and are wonderful family and friends. - Posted by: Khal Shariff (Friend) on: Oct 15, 2012
