MICHAEL SOLOMON December 20, 1900- January 18, 2002 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Michael Solomon, age 101 years, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Violet Brown; his grandchildren, Mike (Shirley) Brown, Kim (Ken) Jones, Alice (Roger) Samuel, Jim (Sandra) Brown, and Eric (Meriana) Brown; his great-grandchildren, Michael and Ryan, Tyler and Rachel, Cara and Corey, Matthew and Erin, and Colton and Julia. He is also survived by his brother Henry (Muriel) of Dauphin, MB; his sister Anne Summers of Wilkie, SK and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (1943) his mother Pearl and father Panko; sister Nellie; brothers, Nick, Metro, Fred, John and Peter; son-in-law Jack Brown. Dad was born in Fork River, where he spent the early part of his life and where he farmed. He later moved to Ochre River, where he owned a garage and then moved to Winnipeg, where he owned a grocery store. He was employed by Northstar Oil and Moores Taxi until he retired. He enjoyed traveling, attending social functions with family and friends and driving his friends when needed. We have many fond memories of the times Grandpa would take us downtown shopping, to the movies, the trips to the farm and his weekly visits to our home as we were growing up. He loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Gigi always had refreshments ready for visitors, and he was always a part of our family gatherings. In December the family gathered together to be with him to celebrate his 101st birthday. A special thanks to the staff of St. Josephs Residence, Misericordia Health Services W3, Home Care and to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital 4-U5 for their loving care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Sneath-Strilchuk Chapel, 502 Main St. South, Dauphin, MB. Interment will follow at Fishing River Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Mike, Jim, Eric, Roger, Ken and Michael. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Michaels memory to a charity of ones choice. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
