Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH JEAN SAURETTE (nee HAY) Passed away at the Cedars Villa Extendicare in Calgary on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 in the company of family. Ruth was born on March 11, 1917 at Portage la Prairie, MB, the youngest of eight children. She spent most of her adult life in Poplar Point, MB where, in addition to her devotion to her immediate and extended family, she was a strong leader and tireless worker in the church, school and community. She retired to Winnipeg in 1979 and moved to Calgary, AB in 1998. During her retirement years she continued to enjoy her many needlework and homemaking activities and traveled widely within Canada and overseas. Ruth is the last of her generation of Hays and Saurettes. Always thoughtful and gracious, she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by sons, Phillip and Allen (Susan) daughters, Judith and Linda (John) and grandchildren, Paul, Amber, Marc, Bryce, Kathleen, Brandon and Spencer. She was predeceased in 1961 by her beloved husband, Edward. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all of those who provided support and care for Ruth over the last years. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAYS "Park Memorial Chapel", (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, Alberta) Telephone: (403) 243-8200 on Friday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jennifer Ferguson of Deer Park United Church officiating. In living memory of Ruth Saurette, a tree will be planted at Nose Creek Valley in Calgary.
