He was 79 years of age. Also left to mourn is Alma King, his soulmate of over sixteen years. Bernie was born on May 24, 1922 in Winnipeg and attended schooling taught by the Jesuits. He served his country during the Second World War with overseas duty as a navigator in a RCAF bomber squadron based in Scotland. At the conclusion of the war, he attended the University of Saskatchewan and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) degree. He worked briefly in Flin Flon, but was then hired by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. (AECL) with whom he worked until his retirement. Dad loved to read and there wasnt any subject in which he had no interest. He loved to garden and spent many hot afternoons puttering about in the garden. He and Alma also loved to travel and saw many places together. Dad was always there to lend a helping hand and the benefit of his sage words. Education, to him, was the prize that everyone should attain. Viewing will take place on Monday, January 21 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
