RANDALL PETER LOEWEN October 30, 1953 - January 17, 2002 After a two and one-half year fight with cancer, Randall Peter Loewen passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. His wife, Val, was at his side. He was 48. Randall is survived by his loving wife Val; his mother Margaret Loewen; siblings, Lorne (Arlene) Loewen, Norma (Harry) Koop, Elda (Allan) Dueck, Eleanor (Dennis) Siemens; in-laws, George and Annie Kehler and their children, Amanda (Mick) Williams, Gerald (Gundy) Kehler, Randy (Michelle) Kehler; his many nieces and nephews; and a large circle of friends. He was pre-deceased by his father Peter L. Loewen. The qualities of kindness, patience and courage describe Randall. His determination shone through during his struggle with the enervating disease: frequently he surprised us all by overcoming an almost insurmountable setback. Through it all Randall was committed to Gods promises in His Word. Randall was a master carpenter with an amazing gift for design and construction. He had a passion for NASCAR races. Randall and Val were soulmates and best friends for 14 years. They travelled, camped out and transformed an older house into a shuttered cottage surrounded by gardens, trees and flowers. This companionship was strengthened as they walked through a difficult cancer journey. With Val at his side, Randall faced death with calm assurance as he travelled to his eternal home. Val thanks the compassionate staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital, the family and the many friends for their kindness, patience, understanding and prayers. Funeral services will be held at the Rosenort EMC Church (two miles south of Rosenort) on Monday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. Friends are invited to a special memorial service at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., on Sunday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m.; viewing will also take place at the church prior to the service on Monday. Donations may be made to Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Research Foundation, Room D1003, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Klassen Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

  • I still miss him. The other day I was once again thinking about how Christ rescued me from my sins. I am still amazed how he used Randy's life and words to show me my need to be baptized. Thank you God for sharing Randy with us for the time that you did. - Posted by: Carl S (Friend) on: Dec 27, 2012
