MARGARET ELIZEBETH SCOTT Margaret Elizebeth Scott passed away peacefully at Saint Boniface General Hospital on Friday, January 18, 2002 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander (Bob) Scott of Winnipeg and Catherine (Elsie) Horn of Kingsley, MB; her brother Don and sister-in-law Phyllis. She is survived and deeply missed by her brother Stan and his wife Shirley of Calgary, AB; sister-in-law Audrey Scott of Montreal, QC, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews, (Maureen, Jim, John, Allison and Cathie) and their spouses and children, cousins, (especially Cathy, Doreen and Betty), relatives both in Canada and the US, and her many friends. After completing Grade 12 at United College, Margaret enjoyed a long career as an Executive Secretary for Grain Insurance Brokers Ltd. (Grain Insurance and Guarantee Co.). She loved to read, travel and visit family and friends, theatre and the opera. On her retirement, Margaret continued her passion for learning by taking university courses. She herself was an example of the kind hearted, capable and strong - spirited prairie women that she loved to read about. Her smile and sense of humour are part of her legacy to all who knew and loved her. Margaret was a dedicated and faithful member of The United Church of Canada. Over the years she was a member of Home Street., Maryland, Westworth and most recently, Young congregations. She served on the Boards of Home St. and Maryland for many years, and volunteered at St. Matthews-Maryland Community Ministry. Margaret was active in the work of Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) and United Church Women (UCW). Those who had the privilege of participating in Bible Study Groups with her were enriched by her knowledge and faith. Margaret believed in a just and caring society for all people. She visited the sick and shut-ins in her congregations and community for many years. She encouraged others in their faith journeys and was a friend to all. The family would also like to thank the staff of 5E, Saint Boniface General Hospital for their wonderful care given to Margaret. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22 at Young United Church, 222 Furby St., Winnipeg. If friends so desire, donations may be made to The United Church, Winnipeg Presbytery Community Ministries Fund, in care of Winnipeg Presbytery, 301 G Weston St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 3H4, Phone 954-2900.
