She was born to John and Ellen Waddell on June 30, 1908 at the family farm near Sperling, MB. In 1944 Florence graduated as a registered nurse and worked for 35 years with Dr. Cunningham at the Carman Medical Clinic. In 1957 Florence married James Janick and acquired a ready-made family. She was a loving Grandmother to nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Florence was also a very special person in the lives of her many nieces and nephews. Florence had a great love for the mission work of the United Church. She shared her knowledge freely as she prepared many studies for the Wilfred Waddell group of the Evening Auxiliary of the WMS, later known as UCW. Florence had a very caring heart and found joy in helping others long after she retired. Florence paid close attention to the beauty of Gods creation. She enjoyed watching the birds at her bird feeders and had a passion for growing flowers. She kept an immaculate yard where she spent endless hours. This she did until the age of 91 when she entered the Boyne Lodge. Here she received compassionate care. Her greatest joy at the Boyne Lodge was the musical entertainment. Loved ones left to cherish her memory are, sister, Marjorie (Dunn) of Thunder Bay; brothers, Reuben of Carman, Vic (Muriel) of Portage, and Wilfred (Joan) of Saanichton, BC; sister-in-law Olive (Gordon) of Newdale; daughter-in-law, Jean Janick; son-in-law, Arthur Sharman; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and special friends. Florence was predeceased by her husband, James Janick (1979) and his three children, Harry, Marjorie (Matthew) Marchuk and Dorothy Sharman. She was predeceased by sisters, Irene (Ivan) Storey, and Mabel (Howard) Lowry; brothers, Stanley Bruce (Phyllis), Gordon, Garnett, Robert, and William; and sister-in- law, Eva. Cremation has taken place. Harold Kenyon will conduct the internment service at 2:00 p.m. on January 25 at Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. He will also conduct a service of celebration of Florences life at 3:00 p.m. at Carman United Church for family and friends. Reception will follow. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Mission & Service Fund of Carman United Church or to the Carman United Church Building Fund.
