Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHALLUR BENJAMINSON February 18, 1924 - January 18, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Halli Benjaminson, on Friday, January 18, 2002 at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. Halli was born at Markland on February 18, 1924. One of ten children born to the late Benjamin and Helga Benjaminson. He is also predeceased by his five siblings, brothers, Andres of Iceland, Gunnlauger of Gimli; sisters, Kristine Cranton of Kelowna, Inga Sigurdson and Thora Thorgilsson of Lundar. He is survived by his loving and devoted companion Josie; two sisters, Asa Jennings and Margaret Gravel of Winnipeg; two brothers, Hjartur (Judy) of Teulon and Numi of Narcisse; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Halli was fun loving and a bit of a prankster in his younger days. He always enjoyed playing a trick or a joke on someone in fun. He was a hard worker and farmed all of his life. Upon leaving school, he began working for Albert Thorgilsson. Together, Halli and Albert raised Herefords and had many show animals. He enjoyed taking part in local fairs in Manitoba and even showed as far away as Toronto. He received many awards, ribbons and trophies to show for his efforts. He particularly enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow showmen and over a friendly nip or two would discuss the pros and cons of farming. Halli purchased his own farm in 1966 and whenever you went to visit, he had a special pet to show you. Each of his animals received a name, but his pets received endearing names. Halli remained on his farm until ill health forced him to retire. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, at the Lundar Community Hall with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Hall. Interment to follow in the Otto Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne, Marvin, Welland and Einar Thorgilsson, Garnet Sigurdson and Arthur Roberts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hallis memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB.
