Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM RANDOLPH BRYDON William Randolph Brydon, at the age of 95 years, Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at St. Norbert Nursing Home, Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife Alice Vera Brydon, nee Hyde in 1999, two brothers, George and Charles; and two sisters, Pauline Allison and Mildred James. He is survived by daughters, Donna Calverley (Douglas), Ottawa, ON, and Judith Whittaker (Brian), Coquitlam, BC; four grandchildren, Debra Gassewitz (Mike), Ottawa, Darren Calverley, Vancouver, Melanie Barnett (Philip), Bermuda, and Corinne Chakrabarti (Robin), Vancouver. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kurtis Gassewitz, Ottawa, and Benjamin Barnett, Bermuda; sisters, Margaret Gibson, Pitt Meadows, BC, and Jean Brydon, Brandon, MB. Bill was born December 10, 1906 in Portage la Prairie, MB. He married Alice Vera Hyde, October 31, 1936. They lived in Kenora until 1942, then resided in Winnipeg. He was employed with the CNR from 1927 until he retired in 1971 as Locomotive Engineer. He worked in Kenora, ON from 1933 to 1942 with the British American Oil. In 1970, he was the Engineer on the Royal Tour, CNR, carrying Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Princess Anne from Brandon to Winnipeg. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Khartum Temple of the Shrine and the Canadian Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 25 at 11:00 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 699 Broadway with the Rev. Pat Wotton officiating. Following a reception, there will be an interment in Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crescent Fort Rouge United Church.
