BETHUEL JAMES STEVENSON (OS ZAOW-WASKOO KINEW BLUE EAGLE) December 30, 1912 - January 20, 2002 Suddenly on January 20, 2002, at his residence in Peguis, with his family at his side. Bethuel James Stevenson (Os zaow-Waskoo Kinew Blue Eagle) passed away at the age of 89 years. Bethuel leaves to mourn his wife Dora of 59 years, his brother Michael Stevenson, his sons, Chief Louis (Shirley), Stanley (Selena), and Terry (Addie) his daughters, Joan (John) Sinclair, Sarah, Doris (Darryl) Bear, Linda (Lloyd) Stevenson, Wendy (Roland Bunn), and Hazel; 30 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Bethuel was predeceased by: his father William Stevenson; his mother Jessie (nee Bradburn) his step-father Colin Packo; brother Wilfred; two step-sisters; son Vernon on December 27, 2000; and grandson Sean in June of 1999. Bethuel was born on the Peguis Reserve. He attended the Portage La Prairie Residential School. Bethuel spent his life sustaining his family by trapping (his greatest joy), farming, pulp cutting, tree planting, harvesting seneca root and bookkeeping. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 8:00 p.m., at the Peguis Community Hall. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m., at the St. Mathews Anglican Church, Peguis, MB, with Rev. Barry Bear and Rev. Wesley Barrett officiating.
