STEFANIA HERBUS (nee CHWALIBOGA) Following a sudden and brief illness, on Monday, January 21, 2002, with her family by her side, Stefania Herbus left the pain of mortal life and passed into the arms of her Holy Saviour. She was predeceased by her husband John in April 2001. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Joan (Janina) and Ron Osachuk, grandson Andrew, granddaughter Wendy Toews, and most beloved great-grandson Matthew. Mother was born on September 29, 1921 in Tarnopol, Poland. She was separated from her family during the Second World War and sent to Germany where she met and married John, her husband of 56 years. Together they immigrated to Canada where she resided until her death. Mother endured much physical pain and suffering during her lifetime but faced it all with strength, courage and a sense of humour, all born of a strong and devout Catholic faith. There was no limit to Mothers love and gifts for her family, especially her grandchildren. Baba was always there to give aid and comfort along with pizza and pop. And she especially looked forward to overnight visits with her most precious great-grandson Matthew. She will be greatly missed and most lovingly remembered. Special thanks go to the staff of ICU at Grace Hospital for their tender and compassionate care during Moms last hours. Viewing will take place on Friday, January 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Henry Uczniak officiating. Service will terminate at the church. Wieczny odpoczynek racz jej dac, Panie. Flowers are gratefully declined.
