BEATRICE ANNE (BABE) BAKER (nee STEWART) 1942 - 2002 With her loving family by her side, we sadly announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, Babe Baker, aged 59 years, of Ashern, MB. Mom was born in the Idylwild District in 1942. On October 12, 1963 she married Matt Baker. They resided in Ashern for three years, then moved to Stonewall, MB. Eight years later they moved back to Ashern and made this their permanent home, along with their children. Moms greatest joy was her family, and she gave to us in immeasurable ways, taking a particular interest in her grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. Mom worked at various jobs and as a result of this made many lasting friendships. Babe was very active within the community. She belonged to the Royal Purple, the Royal Canadian Legion #57, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Babe will be sadly missed by her husband Sonny of 38 years, children, Dawn, Dale (Shandel), children, Mathew and Joshua, Dede (Mark), daughter Shaylene, and Doug (Kelly), children, Mackenzie and David. Also surviving are her sisters, Viv, June (Ken), and Audrey; her brothers, Jack (Jane), Jim (Liz), Dick (Shirley), Lawrence (Jan), and Cliff; also many nieces, nephews and Godson Tyson. Babe was predeceased by her father and mother Jack and Beatrice, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Ralph and Elizabeth, brother Corky, sister-in-law Lorna, brothers-in-law, Walter, Maurice, Wilbert, and David, nieces Kim, and Holly. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Church, Ashern. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashern Centennial Hall with Fr. David Kowalski officiating. Interment to follow in the Ashern United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Miller, Blake Geisler, Allan Stewart, James Spencer, Tyson Geisler and Donnie Miller. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Berrow and the nursing staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital for all the care you gave our mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Runa Mangl, Ashern, MB "For Use in the Palliative Care Unit." Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. • Still miss you, mom. You would have loved Jayden, Angel and Jayde. I can see you playing with them at the kitchen table and going for ice cream at the beginning of summer. - Posted by: Dawn (daughter) on: Mar 13, 2016
