TERRENCE PATRICK LEGG On Thursday, January 24, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer, Patrick gained his rest. He is survived by his mother Irene and three brothers, James (Pat), Robert, Kerry (Kathy) and eight nieces and nephews, Paul, Naomi, Devin, Patrick, Brian, Claire, Daniel and Thomas. He was a wonderful son, brother and uncle and we miss him very deeply. Patrick was a rare combination of intellectual brilliance, generosity, wit, patience and affection. Throughout his years at school he excelled. Teachers loved him. After receiving the Gold Medal in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Manitoba, he become part of the "made in Manitoba" company, Niakwa Management Systems where he was a senior programmer and trouble shooter in Chicago and Winnipeg, until his retirement in 2001. His passion for computers was coupled with a love of cats (Barney and Bailey) and all music but particularly the Winnipeg Folk Festival. He read widely, collecting books of all kinds. His enthusiasm for aviation led him to work for several years on the Winnipeg International Air Show and to attend with friends the yearly International Air Show in Oshkosh, WI. He had been in partnership building an ultra-light amphibious aircraft for two years, and had developed a website with a construction manual for the Sea Rey craft. Under the title "Strait Jacket", he was the genius member of a singular international group called "The Jackets", of which 30 members are meeting in Florida this weekend with his old friend Jerry Dederich to say a prayer for Pat. Patrick made many lifelong friends, in particular Darrell and Linda Lynds, their children, Robin and Mike, and Rose, Jason and Mel. This group were like his second family. The Legg family would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris and the staff of the Oncology Unit at Concordia, Dr. O. Bereznay our family doctor, Dr. Garcia, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, in particular nurse Marie Ball and home care attendant Ken, for all their care and support during these hard times. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment ceremony in the spring. Come to the family home to celebrate Patricks life on Saturday, February 2 after 2:00 p.m. Donations in his memory should be directed to CancerCare Manitoba, or Amnesty International. Flowers are declined with thanks. PADDY, YOU WILL LIVE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
