MARGARET PHYLLIS HAYDEN 1918 - 2002 Peacefully, on Thursday, January 24, 2002, Margaret Hayden, of Winnipeg, formerly of Calgary, AB passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 84 years. Margaret is survived by her cousin through marriage Mona Tempest of Edmonton, AB; and her family of second cousins who knew her affectionately as Aunt Margaret, Joan Pitcher of of Kansas City, MO, Deborah Tempest of Edmonton AB, Beverly Tempest of Comox, BC, Sara Tempest of Calgary, Douglas W. Tempest of Calgary, and Doug Tempest of Settler, AB. Predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Dorothy (nee Watson). She was born on January 17, 1918 in Calgary. After high school graduation, Margaret worked for the Hudsons Bay Company, where she excelled in merchandising and was quickly promoted to Department Head. Margaret was transferred to Winnipeg in the early 1950s, and as the principal buying agent for the hosiery department, she made several trips to Europe to purchase high quality fashion accessories. After her retirement from the Bay, she continued to work for sales agencies featuring ladies accessories and jewelry. During her long career, she was recognized as an astute, highly respected and caring business woman. Margaret was well known for her cheerfulness, optimism, sharp humour and her big heart. She enjoyed all sports, gardening and lovingly caring for her canine companions over the years. Margaret will be sadly missed by her family, her close friends in Winnipeg, and her numerous lifelong friends across Canada and the United States. A memorial service will be held in the Grace Hospital Chapel, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg on Wednesday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place on Friday, February 1 in Union Cemetery in Calgary.
