OLIVE L. SPEER Olive passed away peacefully, with dignity and with her family by her side, on January 27, 2002, at the Betel Home in Selkirk at the age of 97. She was born in Springfield, MB, in 1904 where she lived all her younger years and also her married life. She farmed with her husband Charles until 1962 when his ill health forced them to sell the farm and move to East Kildonan, living there until his passing in 1965. In 1966 she moved to Clandeboye where she lived in a "granny suite" beside Alvin and Mabel Bracken on Brackendale farm. She had resided at the Betel Home since January of 2001. Olive is survived by her daughter Mabel (Alvin) two granddaughters, Linda (Harry Hawes) and Wendy (Garry Church) four great-grandchildren, Pamela and Blair Hawes, Rosalyn and Gordon Church; two brothers, Frank and Mel; and two sisters, Ruby and Hazel. She was predeceased by her husband Charles; her only grandson Blair; and her first great-grandchild Catherine Church; as well as brother William; sisters, Mabel, Nellie, Ethel and Gertie. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. in the Clandeboye United Church with Rev. Lynn Stevens officiating. Interment to take place in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Oakbank, MB, at 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Howard Edmonds, Allen Edmonds, Howard Smith, Garry Church, Harry Hawes and David Edmonds. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olives memory can be made to the Clandeboye Amalgamated United Church Memorial Fund, in care of Christina Grieve, Box 137, Clandeboye, MB, R0C 0K0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
