Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ISOBEL EDYE (HOOEY) On Sunday, January 27, 2002, with family at her side, Margaret Edye peacefully passed away at the Meadowood Manor. Margaret was born September 28, 1919, at Bethune, SK to Alma and Walter Hooey. After the sudden loss of her mother when she was eight, her maternal grandmother moved to the farm to be with Margaret and her father. Margaret completed high school and moved to Winnipeg where she completed secretarial school. Fortunately, she was hired by Mike Aments Fishing Lodge in Sioux Lookout, ON, where she met and married Gordon Edye. Because of being an only child, particularly on an isolated farm, family was of utmost importance to her. She had three daughters, Sharon, Dawn, and Frances, and ensured that she was always there for them. Her other passions were music (piano and singing), education, and a sense of justice. She was a creative woman, designing and sewing for her family. After the children left home, she pursued her education with vigour, obtaining her B.A. from the University of Winnipeg. She volunteered on the Klinic Crisis Line and she and Gordon travelled the world. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years Gordon; her daughters, Sharon Bendzsak (Gabor), Dawn Edye-Rowntree (Ross) and Frances Edye (Rob Cosco) and seven grandchildren, Anna, Michael, Joel, Jason, James, Eleanor, and Alexander. The family has deep gratitude for the compassionate care shown by the staff of Meadowood Manor. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 30, at 1:00 p.m. at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., with Rev. Russell Wardell officiating. Instead of flowers, if friends so desire, Margaret would appreciate a donation to Klinic at 870 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 0P1.
