GERALD CLARK MINAKER It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald Minaker at the Grace Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2002 with his family at his side. Gerald will be dearly missed by his loving wife Margaret; his four sons, George, Bob (Diane), Frank (Petra), Gerry (Cyndi) and his only daughter Valerie. Pop will always be dearly remembered by his grandchildren, Rick (Lisa), Rod (Tanya), Joanne (Bryan), Brian (Ela), Blake, Evan, Amy, Melissa and Ryan. He will be missed by his brother Glen, his sister Alice, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth, and his brother Earl. Gerald was born November 28, 1917 in Winnipeg, MB and in 1918 moved with his parents to the family farm (The Mayflower) at 30-11-1E in the Rural Municipality of Rosser. He attended the Prairie Star and Rosser Village schools and in 1940 he joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers. In 1944 he married the love of his life, Margaret Mabel McFee. Together they farmed, raised their family and supported their community. Gerald was a Steward and then Elder of the Rosser United Church since 1945. He was President of the Rosser Curling Club in 1964 and served Ward 2 as a councillor for the Rural Municipality of Rosser from 1977 until 1992. He was also a regular blood donor from 1938-1967. Gerald lived his life in the service of others and brought joy and laughter to his family and friends. He was very proud of his family and celebrated the many milestones and accomplishments of each of his children and his grandchildren. He will be remembered and missed by all those who were fortunate to know him. The family is appreciative of the many acts of kindness extended during the past months. The cards, the visits and your prayers will always be remembered. A special thanks to the Palliative Care Staff at the Grace Hospital for their caring and support. A memorial service to celebrate Geralds life will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception to follow.
