LUISE von STRAELBORN (nee BUZA) November 22, 1908 - January 28, 2002 With a heavy heart I say good-bye to my wonderful mom, but happy she will be re-united with her loved ones gone before her. Luise was born in Cologne, Germany on November 22, 1908 and passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28 at Bethania P.C.H. at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her only daughter Elisabeth (Sissy) Schlichting, son-in-law Walter; and grandchildren, Walter W. Jr., Claudia (husband Scott Hamann) and Harald. She was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and her husband Wilhelm in 1973. Mom had a good life as a young woman, but the war in Europe saw us fleeing again and again. After the war we settled near Bonn, Germany. They were meagre but good years. Mom was extremely self-sufficient, no task was too big to handle. She especially loved her garden, sewing tirelessly and nobody could cook and bake like Mom with a Hungarian touch. In 1973 after the death of her husband, she moved to Winnipeg to be with her daughter and family and her only surviving sister Ilona. She spent 25 wonderful years doting on her grandchildren and large extended family. Travelling and just having fun, till Alzheimer robbed her of her past. After two years in our care, she became a resident at Bethania Personal Care Home. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the wonderful caring staff of Bethania and especially on North, who became like family. Thank you! Funeral service at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Friday, February 1, at 1:00 p.m., with viewing prior to the service. Interment in St. Vital Parish Cemetery.
