Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL SOKOLOSKI September 5, 1920 - January 29, 2002 Peacefully on January 29, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital our dear father, grandpa and great-grandpa went on to be with his Lord and Saviour - Jesus Christ. Dad was predeceased by his wife Evelyn, his son Murray, his brothers, Fred, Norman and John; and his sisters, Aulga and Anne. His memory will always be cherished by his daughters, Karen Fletcher (Gordon), Heather MacIvor (Campbell) and Shauna; his sons, Garry and Errol (Lynne) his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Peter, and Tony; and sister Mary along with many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Pine Ridge, MB in 1920 and worked on the homestead until venturing west in 1940 where he found work on the west coast on the dry docks and later, landed work on a ship as a Galley Boy. He later travelled back east and worked in Ontario logging roads. Shortly after in 1942, he joined up with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons to fight in the Second World War. After the war, he married mom and enjoyed the family life along with hunting and fishing as his favourite hobbies. He worked with the Winnipeg Transit for nearly 32 years and enjoyed meeting new faces daily. At the grand age of 50, he found new life as a Born Again Christian and shared his faith even up to his last days in hospital. His faith was unshakable and unstoppable. He loved people and was truly blessed with the gift of generosity. He helped many in their time of need but also kept a special place in his heart for his own family. Dad faithfully served his Lord in life, and for some 32 years in service through his home church at the Sherwood Assembly of God. He was a good man and all were blessed to known him. His life verse was: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Many thanks to the Palliative care staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support of Dad during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, P.O. Box 841, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2R3. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with interment in Transcona Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
