IRENE POWELL It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Irene Nellie Powell on Wednesday, January 30, 2002. Irene was born in West Bromwich, England, on March 28, 1917. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Nellie Powell; and her brother George. She immigrated to Canada with her parents as a young girl and settled in St. James where she resided for her entire lifetime. She was employed by the T. Eaton Company until her retirement age. She was an active member of the St. James United Church, Parkview Street. She leaves to mourn her family, her cousin Ed Peters and his wife Lillian of Winnipeg, and their two children, Dianne Stoddart (Lloyd) of Calgary, AB, Barbara Lee (Marvin) and their two children, Jason and Andrew of Winnipeg. She also leaves a cousin Nellie Woodall of England and her family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James United Church, 243 Parkview St., followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irenes memory to the Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
