ANNE MARY SCANES Peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2002, Anne Mary Scanes passed away at the Donwood Manor at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her husband Phillip in 1980; one brother Albert Wirth and one sister Kathleen Wirth. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Verna Caroline Scanes. She is also survived by her sisters, Elsie Jackson and Evelyn Andrews; brother, John Wirth of Victoria, BC; sister-in-law Eileen Wirth of Edmonton, AB; her close friend, Betty Jenkins; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and good friend Mary Mohr of Grenfell, SK. Anne was born in Melville, SK in 1910 and moved to Winnipeg with her family at a very young age. She met Phillip in Winnipeg and married him and remained in Winnipeg raising their family. Anne was a life-long member of Louise Rebekah Lodge # 14 and Ivy #19. There will be a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 4 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Chaplain Laura Friesen officiating. Viewing will be held for an hour prior to the service. A reception will follow at Thomson Chapels prior to proceeding to Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens for interment. Verna and family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Nurses and Staff of 2 North at Donwood Manor for the excellent quality of care Anne received during her years there and for the friendships that developed. Pallbearers will be Cliff Wirth, Steve Ramsay, John Jackson, Robert Andrews, Jared Andrews and Rick Scharf. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3 or to a charity of choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
