Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMEYER SPIKE PEARLMAN It is with great sadness our family announces the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Meyer Spike Pearlman. Spike died peacefully in Palm Springs, CA on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 with his wife Rita by his side. He was 81 years old. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Brent, Kerry and Leora and Lisa, as well as his precious granddaughter Madison. He will also be greatly missed by his sisters, Fay Pearlman and Ronnie Segal, to whom he was always devoted. Everyone who knew Spike will remember his determination to provide a good life for his family. His career in the trucking industry spanned almost 50 years. From the early days peddling produce around rural Manitoba with his father Harry, through his time at Scott Fruit to the later years operating Mid West Truck Lines with his partner and good friend, Abe Greenberg, Spike taught us all the value of hard work. In recent years Spike came out of retirement to arrange the shipping of cars for people wintering in Palm Springs. Spikes family and large circle of friends will continue to live their lives, reflecting on the years of wonderful memories of the kind and gentle soul he was. Spike had a terrific sense of humour, the ability to make others feel instantly comfortable and welcome and a tenacious will to enjoy life to its fullest. These are just a few of the many gifts he shared with the myriad of people whose lives he touched. Although he was involved with different activities and organizations over the years, Spike was happiest surrounded by his family. He was a loving and supportive husband for over 48 years. He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his children and derived great joy from the time he spent with his granddaughter. He always spoke of the importance of family and taught by example the value of maintaining strong bonds. Funeral services were held on January 17 at BNai Abraham Synagogue with interment at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Essers, Harold Black, Ken Segal, Sheldon Kaminsky, Josh Kass and Chris Vincent. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Spikes memory may do so at the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of their choice.
