JOHN HARRY LUPYRYPA We regret to announce the passing of John Lupyrypa "Big John" in his 82nd year on Sunday, January 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary, and children, Lasha (Ted) Gooder, Ali (Heinz) Diekert, Lawrence Luprypa, Dorothy McLaren, and Nadine Luprypa; sister Olga Andrewshanko of Gimli, MB; six grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. John and his wife started in the restaurant business in 1947 in Manitoba and owned and operated several hotels in Manitoba before moving to Vernon, BC in 1965, where he owned and operated Heglers Resort until 1973. John was a well known Champion fiddler throughout his life, starting at age 13 until his eighties, taking part in and winning numerous fiddling competitions. He enjoyed performing and gave freely of his time, playing for many civic and community events, seniors homes, functions, dances, Ukrainian weddings, and other special occasions. Our beloved husband, Dad and Dido, we appreciated his many good qualities, and he gave us all a love of music. We shall miss him greatly. If friends so desire memorial donations can be made in Johns memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of choice. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 30 in Vernon. Interment to take place at Shorncliffe, MB at a later date. Vichnaya Pamyat
