MARIASTELLA CIANFLONE (nee MORELLO) Peacefully surrounded by her family on February 3, 2002 at Riverview Health Centre. Mariastella was embraced in the loving hands of our Lord at the age of 89 years. Her memory will be cherished by her loving family, son Antonio (Giovanna) Cianflone; daughter-in-law Maria Cianflone; daughter Angelina (Gaetano) Loscerbo; son Mario (Darlene) Cianflone of Minneapolis; son Franco (Serafina) Cianflone; son Flavio Cianflone and friend Debbie. Mariastella was blessed with loving grandchildren, Francesco, Mariastella (Domenico), Gennaro (Theresa), Francesco (Teresa), Giuseppe (Sara), Mariastella (Salvatore), Antonio (Carmela), Maria (Nicola) of Italy, Stella (John), Jacqueline, Christopher (Heidi) of Minneapolis, Renee of Minneapolis, Andrea of Minneapolis, Jason (Anna), Francine, Anne-Marie, Melody; great-grandchildren, Katrina, Antonio, Antonio, Nina, Raffaele, Pietro, Mariella, Brendan, Jessica, Cameren and Cayden. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Giuseppina Cianflone and numerous nieces and nephews. Mariastella is predeceased by her son Pietro, husband Francesco and all her brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of the Morello generation from Italy. Mariastella was born in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy on November 5, 1912. In 1932, she married Francesco Gaetano and raised her family in Amato until her immigration to Canada in 1955. Upon her arrival to Winnipeg she was reunited with her husband Francesco and her two older sons Antonio and Pietro. Mariastellas commitment to her faith and family was paramount in her life. This trait was clearly demonstrated by her unconditional love for her family. Mamma found great joy in gathering her family on many festive occasions. The community will gather in prayer on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers will be Francesco and Gennaro Cianflone, Domenico Mazza, Francesco, Giuseppe and Antonio Cianflone, Salvatore Vena, John Boswick, Christopher Cianflone and Jason Cianflone. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care.
